Tomato Bush Champion II

Delicious, healthy tomatoes grown in your own yard can be yours to enjoy this summer! The tomato crop at Squak Mt. will soon be ready to be transplanted in your garden. Tomatoes thrive when nighttime temperatures are consistently over 50F. Typically that occurs in Issaquah the second or third week of May. Depending on your location on the Eastside, that timeline may accelerate or slow a week or two.

One of the varieties we are growing this year is ‘Bush Champion II’. Champion tomatoes produce large, flavorful, beefsteak fruits, weighing about 8-12 ounces in only 65 days. This quick maturity date is important because our summers here in the Seattle area are quite short and mild compared to other areas of the country. The “Bush” title indicates that this specific variety is determinate, growing only 24” tall and bearing a very large yield of delicious fruit. The compact size of these plants makes them ideal for container growing. Finally the “II” in the name indicates this plant has improved disease resistance and greater yields than its predecessor.

We encourage you to stop by Squak Mt. after Mother’s Day and select your favorite varieties of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, pumpkins and more. As the weather warms your plants will thrive and soon you will be gathering a bountiful harvest.
