Rattlesnake

Not near as scary as its namesake implies, Calathea lancifolia AKA Calathea ‘Rattlesnake’ is a elegant and striking houseplant. If the richly green-spotted leaves didn’t already catch your eye, then surely the deep purple hiding underneath the leaves will. Like many plants in the “prayer plant” family, ‘Rattlesnake’ will respond to light changes by opening and closing its leaves, dancing throughout the day and showing off all sides of its foliage. In its natural habitat, this plant is an understory plant in lush rainforests. Provide it with indirect light, like an east-facing window, and it will be satisfied. Calathea appreciate humidity, so consider placing them near other houseplants to help keep the soil evenly moist. Aside from the beautiful foliage, the ‘Rattlesnake’ prayer plant is also pet-friendly!
