Pruning Raspberry Shortcake

Did you buy a Raspberry Shortcake from Squak Mt this year? Raspberry Shortcake is the compact raspberry bush that can be planted in a container. If you do have one of the gems of a fruit bearing shrubs, then it will soon be done bearing fruit. That means it needs to be pruned back. Luckily it is super easy and can be done within a few minutes.

Raspberry Shortcake produces abundant canes every spring and the fruit grows on new canes that have gone through winter dormancy. That means when you prune your Raspberry Shortcake now you want to cut out the canes that have finished fruiting (cut at the bottom of the cane) and allow the new canes to come up, which will fruit next year.
