New! Pretty Lady Rose

Beloved by audiences around the world, the British TV series Downton Abbey has firmly established itself as one of the best TV dramas ever made. Now in its final season Downton Abbey has enjoyed runway success, both on screen and off. This spring at Squak Mt we will be offering the second rose in a series named for some of the beloved characters on the show.

This year’s introduction ‘Pretty Lady Rose’, is named for the vibrant, caring, elegant, and slightly head strong great niece of the Dowager Countess of Grantham.  ‘Pretty Lady’s’  dark pink ruffled blooms are reminiscent of the flapper dresses that Lady Rose loves to wear. Her old fashioned blooms give off a fragrance redolent of peony with an edge of spice.  Capping off this splendid garden addition is the glossy green foliage.

A compact, medium upright grower, ‘Pretty Lady Rose’ would work beautifully in a patio container or as a border in a landscape planting. For lots of vibrant color all summer, plant her alongside any of the following roses: New Zealand (pale pink, hybrid tea), Bolero (white, Floribunda), Scentimental (red and white, Floribunda) or Lasting Love (burgundy, Hybrid tea).  Come stroll through our homegrown rose crop at Squak Mt. today.
