New! ‘Joe’ Clematis

Abundant white daisy shaped blooms envelope your early spring garden spaces on a new clematis introduction, “Joe”. This evergreen vine features oak shaped leaves on a dwarf form. In late winter you will see the round flower buds swell as they cover they plant. They will be evident for several weeks until the flowers burst forth. Each bloom measures 1”– 2” across, and has a yellow center surrounded by white petals. A single vine can produce 100+ blooms!

Tucked into a pot or in the landscape, Clematis cartmanii ‘Joe’ perform best when trained on a trellis or obelisk. Like many clematis varieties, Joe loves sun or partial sun on its’ leaves and shade on its roots. When you insure neighboring plants’ leaves cover the root zone of your clematis in summer, it will help keep the base cool.

‘Joe’ is a petite clematis, and will reach to about 4-6’ tall. The fern like leaves are finely cut and will add texture and interest all year long. Hardy to about 0°F, we recommend you protect the foliage from bitter winter winds if you live in the foothills.
