Rejoice in a new evergreen magnolia that blooms in spring. Our new line of Fairy Magnolias (Michelia) can be described as a large shrub or a small tree. The broad glossy green leaves are covered by flowers with a pleasing fragrance around April.
Growing up to 10’ tall, Fairy Magnolias can create a remarkable blooming evergreen hedge or plant them singly as a striking specimen. They are easily pruned and produce flower buds profusely at the base of nearly every leaf. This quick growing, easy care plant is hardy to 10°F. We recommend planting it in sheltered locations if you are gardening in windy foothills locations like Snoqualmie or North Bend.
Fairy Magnolias perform best in full sun but will also grow well in partial sun. Michelia are disease resistant and can succeed in a variety of soils, but avoid waterlogged conditions.
There are three varieties of Fairy Magnolias to choose from. ‘Fairy Cream’ boasts soft yellow blooms about 2.5” across. ‘Fairy Blush’ shows off a profusion of soft pink flowers. Finally, ‘Fairy White’ has larger blooms and also starts to show color a little earlier than either of its’ siblings.
We are excited to introduce Fairy Magnolias to your garden. Come select your favorite color at Squak Mt. soon.
