Bring unique foliage texture to your home or office with one of our favored tropical plants. A long-standing favorite of houseplant enthusiasts, the Monstera adansonii is the elegant cousin of the bold and iconic Monstera deliciosa. Easily recognizable by the decorative holes in its leaves, an adaptation known as “fenestration,”
this plant is often referred to as the “Swiss Cheese Plant.” Heart shaped, glossy leaves paired with these distinctive fenestrations give it a striking appearance that adds beautiful curves to indoor jungles.
When left to its own devices, this Monstera will trail gracefully out of its container, creating a lush curtain of foliage as it matures. However, there are several other display options that you can easily implement. Consider mounting your Monstera to a moss pole for some added height and structure, or guide it up the wall with small hooks for a touch of untamed whimsy.
One of the staff favorites in the Garden Shed for beginning plant parents, the Monstera adansonii is very adaptable to indoor conditions. Give it bright, indirect light for the showiest foliage. Let this plant dry out slightly in between waterings, and provide optimal drainage for best success.
