Bring continuous, striking color to your summer garden with the pendulous blooms of ‘Bossa Nova’ begonias. This begonia boliviensis is very flexible, thriving in hot, full sun to shady conditions. They are ideal for planting in hanging baskets, planter boxes or mixed containers as their mounded, trailing habit brings a feeling of overflowing abundance. These profuse bloomers have been grown in many colors by our greenhouse team, including red, orange, rose, white and yellow.
‘Groovy’ begonias are very similar featuring a semi-trailing habit and a beautiful uniform habit. Large, strap like flowers in red, rose or white are part of our crops at Squak Mt. this season. A final boliviensis type of begonia to consider is ‘Santa Barbara’. It’s cascading habit and blooms are highlighted by creamy white petals.
Consider using any of these remarkable begonias planted en masse to create a bold statement of color. Alternatively they can be placed individually with other summer annuals to bring a graceful draping texture and bright color to your design.
All begonias grow best when night time temperatures are consistently over 50°F. Drop by Squak Mt soon to select your favorite colors from our greenhouse growing benches.
