Beat the Blues

When short, grey days in the PNW seem to trudge on forever, it is easy to tumble into the winter blues. Bring a cheerful twist on “the blues” to your indoor garden with the ‘Cebu Blue’ Pothos!

Native to tropical Cebu island in the Philippines, this cultivar of Epipremnum pinnatum is unique amongst pothos with frosty blue leaves. Compared to the most common pothos, the leaves of the Cebu Blue are more slender and elongated, with deep blue veins traced along the entire leaf. Adding to the visual treat, Cebu Blue is also more likely to gain fenestrations, or decorative holes and slits in the leaves, compared to its cousins.

All these unique features may lead a person to think that the Cebu Blue needs special care, but it shares with its Pothos cousins an adaptability and easy care attitude that can’t be beat. Happy with most lighting situations, Cebu Blue will gladly take bright indirect light, rewarding you with bigger, flashier leaves. Alternatively it can also handle lower light conditions– just keep in mind it will slow down in response. When it comes to watering, wait until the potting medium is dry at least half-way through.

The easy care and coloration of the Cebu Blue make it a lovely addition to any indoor jungle. Come visit the Garden Shed at Squak Mt. Nursery for all your houseplant needs.
