Tillandsias, aka Air Plants, are adorable and hardy houseplants with a big impact. The broad assortment of textures and hues open the door for boundless creativity in displaying them. Before we jump right into how to play with air plants, here’s a quick refresher on care. For light, provide them with plenty of ambient lighting. Regularly mist gently with a fine mister to mimic their natural habitat.
Now, air plants are ideal to pop amongst your houseplants or to add some life to your bookshelves, but here are some simple ways to elevate their display with minimal supplies and time.
Terrarium
Abandon soil and instead, layer in decorative pebbles or fluffy moss as a base layer, then mix and match air plants for texture. Add your own unique touches with small trinkets.
Branches
With a flowing bare manzanita branch or something wild and mossy that fell in your back yard, branches are a great way to make a statement with air plants, and completely scalable to fit your space. Choose several air plants with different sizes and textures, affix gently with wire, and enjoy.
