Purple Splendor

Create bold vertical drama in your landscape with the addition of a new Big Bluestem grass, ‘Indian Warrior’ (Andropogon). These North America natives, desire full sun, are adaptable to many soil conditions, and are very drought tolerant.

Tall, stalwart, and gorgeous ‘Indian Warrior’ is an erect, linear clumping grass begging to be planted as a backdrop in your landscape. Growing to be 5-6’ at its maturity ‘Indian Warrior’ will begin its fabulous color show for you in midsummer when the gray-green leaves begin to turn a reddish-purple. As the season progresses the leaves will become a dusky purple. Husky purple flowers bloom at the top of stems a nice shade of Cougar crimson. Deer resistant and hardy to -40, this deciduous grass is a beautiful addition in any landscape. Pair with some vibrant gold variegated shrubs and border with purple pansies for a landscape that cheers for your favorite team (!).
